Accident and sickness insurance


Insurance against accidents and sickness is an important element of the social package provided by prominent companies to their employees. An insurance policy compensates for the damage to employee’s life and health caused by an accident or sickness and allows protecting the financial stability of their family.

Accident insurance programs are implemented by Igosstrakh-Life, a subsidiary of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company, established in 2003. “Ingosstrakh Life” stands for highly qualified specialists who have been developing Igosstrakh’s life insurance division for over 10 years.

Primary health and accident insurance

Insurable risks:

  • Death of the insured person as a result of an accident or any other cause;
  • Permanent disablement as a result of an accident or any other cause;
  • Temporary incapacity as a result of an accident or sickness.

Insurance terms:

  • employers can choose the effective period of the insurance – either 24 hours a day or only the time during which employees perform their duties;
  • insurance period – 1 year;
  • the insurance policy covers all the countries of the world except for territories with armed conflicts.

Sum insured:

  • is specified by the employer for each individual employee depending on their rate of salary or position held and as advised by the specialists of Ingosstrakh-Life.

Insurance tariff:

  • is determined depending on the set of insurable risks, sum insured, sex and age of the policy holders, labor terms and conditions and professional duties.

Insurance compensation payment:

  • If the insurance policy holder dies, 100% of the sum insured shall be paid immediately to the Insurance beneficiary previously determined by the employer on consent of the employee.
  • In the event of permanent disablement of the Insurance policy holder 100% of the amount shall be compensated for disability group I, 75% - for disability group II and 50% - for group III.
  • In the event of permanent complete or partial disablement caused by the accident the Insurance policy holder shall be immediately paid part of the sum insured depending on the injury severity.
  • In the event of temporary incapacity as a result of an accident the insured person shall be paid a part of the sum insured depending on the injury severity.
  • In the event of temporary incapacity as a result of an accident or sickness depending on the medical certificate validity term the insured person receives daily compensation in the amount of 0.3% of the sum insured.

Additional insurance programs

  • Insurance in case of hospitalization and/or surgical operation provides for direct cash payments to the Insurance policy holders, which compensates them for the loss of earnings, indirect costs and if necessary allows them to obtain resources for treatment of the disease and medical procedures not included in the voluntary medial insurance program.
  • Insurance in case of surgical operation associated with an accident or sickness: Part of the sum insured is immediately paid to the insurance policy holder depending on the complexity of the surgical operation undergone by the policy holder.
  • Insurance in case of hospitalization as a result of an accident or sickness: The Insurance policy holder receives a daily compensation for each calendar day of his/her stay at the hospital. The compensation constitutes 0.5% of the sum insured.
  • Insurance in case of temporary incapacity with a daily compensation based on the medical certificates compensates employees for loss of earnings in case of temporary incapacity.

Insurance terms:

  • The policy is issued only as an addition to the standard accident and sickness insurance policy.
  • It is applicable only for permanent employees whose monthly salary amounts to at least 15000 rubles, as the compensation serves as an addition to payments of Social insurance fund. The insurance coverage amount shall not exceed the actual amount of earnings loss.
  • The employer may opt to compensate part of the earnings lost.
  • The insurance coverage shall be paid to the employee per each work day spent off work on sick leave in accordance with the formula used to calculate social compensation.
