Civil liability insurance of nuclear energy installations operators
The Federal law “On the use of nuclear energy” adopted in 1995 (art. 53) prescribes the civil liability insurance to be an essential condition for obtaining a license (permit) for nuclear power-related operations or transportation of radioactive substances, nuclear materials, nuclear-based products and radioactive wastes.

Insured persons can be:
Enterprises and organizations operating nuclear facilities (nuclear reactor equipment and facilities; equipment and facilities with industrial, experimental and research critical and subcritical nuclear stands, etc.),
Radiation sources (facilities, equipment, apparatuses and complexes containing radioactive substances and generating ionizing radiation other than nuclear facilities),
Nuclear materials and radioactive substances storage areas, radioactive waste storage facilities, and transport agencies, radioactive materials consignors and consignees (for the period of transportation).
Our policy covers the following risks:
Damage caused to third parties by radiation in the event of design (extra-design) or transport accidents.
Insurance compensation includes:
Damage caused by the destruction or damage to the affected parties’ property (natural or legal entities);
Damage to life and health of people including the share of revenue lost by the affected party as a result of disablement and additional recuperation expenses;
Share of revenue lost by the persons dependable on the affected party as a result of his/her death;
Expenses incurred by natural and legal entities to prevent damage or reduce the extent of its consequences should the threat of such damage appear.
