There are various types of risks in overland transportation of hazardous cargoes, including damage to third party property or death, bodily injury, illness or disablement of any third party and damage to the environment. Insurance object:
carrier’s responsibility which he incurs in providing services of transportation of hazardous cargo and liability for physical loss of or damage to third party property or death, bodily injury, illness or disablement of any third party and damage to the environment, if such liability is determined under the national or international law.
Risks covered:
liability for physical loss of or damage to the dangerous cargo resulting from a road accident;
liability for physical loss of or damage to third party property or death, bodily injury, illness (including hospital, medical and funeral expenses) or disablement (for labouring people) of any third party caused by the transported or forwarded cargo and arising out from an accident;
liability for damage to the environment;
costs incurred by a carrier after any accident that gives rise to or may give rise to a claim under the insurance, in investigating the accident and protecting the carrier’s interests in relation to it, for example, the fees of a lawyer, surveyor or expert; in avoiding or minimizing a claim.
