About Green Card Insurance Policies

As of 01 January 2009 Russia accedes to the international system “Green Card”. Now, when traveling by your own car outside the country, you can insure your motor third-party liability with Ingosstrakh IJSC.  

What is a Green Card?

Green Card is a mandatory motor third-party liability insurance of vehicle owners traveling outside the country by their own car. The policy is valid in all European states, as well as in Israel, Morocco, Tunisia and Iran.

The main advantage of the type of insurance is protection of vehicle owners iа they inflict damage to health, life or property of third parties in a car accident. Green Card policy enables to use a vehicle on the territory of insurance. 

The amount insured under the insurance contract is unlimited. At this, compensation for each insured accident must not exceed the marginal insured amount as prescribed by the law on compulsory insurance of the state where the accident took place.  

The cost of insurance depends on the following parameters:

• Category of a vehicle (a passenger car, a truck, a motorcycle, agricultural or construction vehicles, etc.),
• Insurance period (from 15 days to 1 year),
• Coverage of the policy (“All countries of the Green Card system” or “Ukraine, Republic of Belarus and Republic of Moldova”).

How does it work?

After an accident, you must call a law enforcement officer and produce the Green Card policy. Damage is paid by the Green Card bureau of the country where the accident took place.  Further information is available at the insurance representative’s or Ingosstrakh offices.

Insurance Company Soglasie is the partner of Ingosstrakh IJSC for this type of insurance.  The Russian Union of Car Insurers provides cooperation and sets the rules of professional activities within the framework of the Green Card insurance.
