MOTPL insurance in Ingosstrakh


Civil liability motor-vehicle insurance is an accepted standard in all developed countries. In Russia MOTPL policy was introduced on July’ 1 2003 after the adoption of Federal law No 40-FZ “On compulsory civil liability motor-vehicle insurance” as of April’ 25, 2002 *. The major advantage of this type of insurance is the protection of rights of vehicle owners in the event of damage caused by them to health, life or property of any third parties.

The insurance sum of compensation for the damage caused to the third parties is prescribed by the law:

  • In total not exceeding 400 thousand rubles;
  • For property – up to 160 thousand rubles, but no more than 120 thousand rubles per victim;
  • For life and health – up to 240 thousand rubles, but not exceeding 160 thousand rubles per victim.

Insured amounts for compensation of damage to third parties are defined in the law:

  • For property - up to RUB 160k but no more than RUB 120k to one person;
  • For life and health - no more than RUB 120k to one injured person.

Besides, for an additional small charge we offer you to extend the limit of your civil liability by concluding an additional voluntary third-party liability insurance agreement, which would allow you to extend your civil liability limit up to 30 million rubles.

* Lack of MOTPL is penalized with the following sanctions:

  • Penalty of up to 5-8 minimum monthly wages;
  • Vehicle inspection ban;
  • Impossibility to register or undertake other actions with uninsured vehicles.

The interaction and establishment of professional conduct rules in voluntary insurance is the responsibility of the Russian Motor Insurers’ Union (RMIU).
